KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State senior Scott Burley was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Runner of the Week for the second time in 2009 and for the fifth time in his career on Wednesday.

The honor comes to the Brockville, Ontario, Canada, native following a second place showing at the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic in Orlando on Saturday, October 10. He ran the 8k course at the Walt Disney World Wide World of Sports in 25:52.40 to lead the Owls to a victory in the 25-team event. It was the third victory of the season for the Owls. KSU freshman Nabil Hamid was right behind Burley, finishing third. Scott was familiar with the course after having run it in 2008 and finishing seventh.

"It' a good surprise to be Runner of the Week again," said Burley, who is now just one award shy of pulling into a three-way tie with East Tennessee State's Kenneth Rotich (2007-2008) and Belmont's William Kerney (2001-2002) for most Men's ROTW awards all-time. "It's nice to be recognized like this during my senior year, but I still have a lot left in the tank."

Burley was named ROTW on September 30 of this year, as well, after a third place finish at the RunFit Invitational in Macon, Ga. led the Owls to a victory in the meet hosted by fellow A-Sun foe Mercer.

The Black and Gold do not compete this week. They host the KSU Owl Invitational on October 23 at Noonday Park in Kennesaw.
