KENNESAW, Ga. - The Kennesaw State women’s cross country team is ranked 13th in the NCAA South Region, according to the weekly poll released by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday. This is the first time the Owls have been ranked in an NCAA poll since they moved to Division I in 2005.
The Owls did not race this week as a team, though Mackenzie Howe did run in the Hatter Invitational on Friday night, hosted by Stetson in DeLand, Fla. The KSU junior set a course record with her 17:42 time on the 5k course that will be the site of the Atlantic Sun Cross Country Championships on October 31. Their last team competition came at the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic on October 10, where three of their runners finished in the top-20 en-route to a victory in the 30-team event.
Head coach Stan Sims will have his squad compete one more time prior to the A-Sun Championship, when the program hosts the KSU Owl Invitational at Noonday Park in Kennesaw. The women’s race is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m.
