The Owls finished up the Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate seventh in the standings after shooting a 297 on Tuesday, for an 18-over par 882 performance for the tournament.
"We did not finish as well as we should have," Head Coach Jay Moseley said. "The guys played hard until the end but we still need to improve in some areas."
East Carolina, the only team to finish under par, led the field of 15 teams at 12-under par 852, followed by Wofford College, Furman University, Old Dominion, Georgia Southern, and Georgia College and State.
The Owls who began the day in a tie for sixth after shooting a 294 and 291 in the first two rounds on Monday were led by J.P. Putnam (74) and Jeff Karlsson (73) on Tuesday, both of whom finished the tournament at 1-over par 217.
The Owls received strong performances from two of their freshmen as well. After starting the day in a tie for 32nd, Ben Greene climbed up the leader board to a tie for 27th with a score of 74 in the final round and an overall score of 222.
Hermansson, another Owls’ freshman, was solid in his first collegiate tournament, despite carding his highest score (84) in the final round. He finished the event in a tie for 66th at 16-over par 232.
Alex Jones rounded out the scoring for the Owls, recording a 76 in the final round to finish up at 17-over par 233.
The Owls will return to action when they travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., to compete in the Scenic City/Aldilia Invitational on Oct. 26-27.
"We have one more fall event next week and we are looking to finish on a high note," Moseley said.
