KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s soccer team departed from campus this morning for Winston-Salem, N.C. as the Owls prepare to battle the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship Tournament at Spry Stadium.

The Owls left on a charter bus at 8:00 a.m. in front of the KSU Soccer Complex ready to make the six-hour trek to the Wake Forest campus.

“We’re ready to get this started,” smiled head coach Rob King as he watched his players board the bus, pillows and blankets in hand. “We’ve met, prepared and now we’re ready to get up there and play.”

The Black and Gold will stop for lunch at about 12:30 p.m. and then check in at their hotel at about 3:00 p.m. before heading to Spry Stadium for a one-hour practice session beginning at 4:00 p.m. After practice the Owls will return to the hotel and then out for the team dinner.

“We’re looking forward to the trip and getting to North Carolina,” said freshman defender Jade Dempster. “Right now we are very excited about the match, but it will be good to get settled in up and begin to prepare for Friday.”

Before the match, it will be business as usual for the Owls with a light morning stretch after the team breakfast. Coach King will then head off for a pre-tournament meeting at 1:00 p.m. before things get started at 3:00 p.m. with the first match of the day, Loyola (Md.) and West Virginia.

The Owls and the Demon Deacons will kick-off their match at 5:30 p.m. at Spry Stadium. Tournament information, game times, scores and live stats can be found at www.WakeForestSports.com.
