Six-foot-six-inch forward Brandon Dawson signs with Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State head men’s basketball coach Tony Ingle and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics have announced the signing of Brandon Dawson of Tucker High School to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Owls beginning in the fall of 2010.
“Brandon is our kind of student-athlete,” said Coach Ingle. “He will fit in nicely here because he is serious about his academics, basketball and is always striving to be a good person.”
Dawson, a six-foot-six-inch wing player, comes to Kennesaw State after playing for James Hartry at Tucker High School where he was a four-year letter-winner and three year starter, leading Tucker to the Georgia 6AAAA State Finals in his junior season.
“When I visited here Kennesaw State felt like home,” said Dawson. “ I enjoyed the players and the coaches and knew this was the place for me to grow as a player and a person.”
Last season, Dawson averaged 12 points and was eighth in rebounding in DeKalb County with eight rebounds per game. He also posted career-highs in points (18) and rebounds (16) during his junior season, getting 10 or more rebounds in 10 of 27 games.
“Brandon also has a very good attitude and we especially like the way he goes after the tough rebound,” added Coach Ingle.
He led the Tigers to a 4-1 postseason record last season as he helped take Tucker to the AAAA Championship Game against Miller Grove. In his sophomore season he averaged 7.3 rebounds, 18th in the county, as he led Tucker to the state tournament.
Dawson is the third recruit and first local player signed by Coach Ingle and the Owls this season. He joins teammates Aaron Anderson and Mirza Sabic of Central Arizona College as early signees.
