CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Angie Smith connected on four 3-pointers as the Kennesaw State women's basketball team hit on 11 3-pointers as a team in a 76-61 loss to Chattanooga on Friday night in the second game of the DoubleTree Classic.

The sophomore Smith scored 12 points, scoring in double figures for her fifth straight game for KSU (2-3).  Freshman Ashley Holliday connected three times from beyond the arc, while fellow freshmen Kayla Weaver and Brandi Jones each hit a pair of 3-pointers.

The Lady Owls led 3-2 after Smith's first three of the game, but that would be the only lead of the night for KSU as the Lady Mocs (2-3) went on an 11-2 run to take a 13-5 lead less than four minutes into the contest.  KSU pulled within four after a 3-pointer by Weaver made the score 17-13, but the Lady Mocs pushed the lead to as many as 14 in the first half.  The Lady Owls rallied in the latter stages of the period, cutting the Chattanooga lead to six, 37-31, at the break after a lay-in by Montinique Nixon accounted for the last points of the half.

The Lady Owls pulled within three points early in the second half, but Chattanooga went on a 20-1 run to ice the game.  Shanara Hollinquest scored 13 of her game-high 26 points in the second half, as the Lady Mocs led by as many as 22.

KSU out-rebounded Chattanooga, 45-44, but the Lady Mocs hit on 28-of-59 from the field compared to 21-of-67 for KSU.  Eight of KSU's 10 2-point baskets came from in the paint as the Lady Owls scored 16 points inside, compared to 42 for Chattanooga.

KSU will return to the hardwood tomorrow when it faces Evansville at 3 p.m. in the consolation game of the DoubleTree Classic.  The Purple Aces (0-4) fell to Villanova 56-49 in Friday's first game.
