KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's soccer team will find out their opponent in the first round of the 2009 Women's College Cup on Monday evening as the 64 team field will be announced live on ESPNews at 8:00 p.m.

The Owls coaches, players, administration, staff and fans will watch the tournament selection show at the Mellow Mushroom on 1133 Chastain Road, across from campus. Members of the squad and the coaching staff will be arriving at the location at 7:30 p.m. and all students and fans are encouraged to attend.

“We would love for all our fans and the student body to come down and share this experience with us,” said Owls head coach Rob King. “It's a great time for our team, the University and the community so we want tonight to be a celebration for everyone.”

Tonight will mark the second time in three years that the Owls will be watching the selection show with a vested interest. In 2007, Coach King led the Black and Gold to Kennesaw State's first-ever national tournament. Fast tracked into Division I after winning the Division II National Championship in 2003, the Owls advanced to the national tournament in 2007 where they played nationally ranked Florida State in Tallahassee.

Kennesaw State, winners of the Atlantic Sun Conference, is one of 30 teams to receive an automatic bid into the field of 64 teams who will battle for the Women's College Cup. The Owls were one of seven teams to clinch a berth on Saturday as they joined  No. 2-ranked Portland, Denver, Boston University, Loyola (Md.), San Diego State and Harvard as the first teams to earn a tournament bid.

Twenty-three other teams earned automatic bids on Sunday including national powerhouses North Carolina, Penn State, Notre Dame, South Carolina and Oklahoma State. The 34 at-large teams will also be determined on Monday evening. The first round of the tournament will be on Friday, Nov. 13 at on campus sites throughout the nation.
