KENNESAW, Ga. - The Kennesaw State men's tennis team and head coach Brandon Padgett has released its 2009-10 schedule in an announcement made this week.
"We are excited about the second season of men's tennis at KSU,” Padgett said. "I am hoping and expecting continued improvement on the court from our extremely young team."
The Owls will open up the fall season on Sept. 17 in Athens, Ga., before traveling to the state of Tennessee for their next three matches. The Owls will participate in an event at Tennessee Tech on Sept. 25-27 and at Tennessee-Chattanooga on oct. 2-4 before finishing their Volunteer State trek in an event at the University of Tennessee on Oct. 16-18.
"Our fall schedule, once again, will test this young team, with tournaments at the University of Georgia and the University of Tennessee, as well as the ITA Regional in Athens, highlighting the fall schedule,” Padgett said.
The spring season begins at the end of January on the road when the Owls face the Tigers of Memphis on Jan. 29, before returning home the following day to take on Austin Peay at the KSU Tennis Complex in the home opener.
"We open our spring season with a difficult task, playing at the University of Memphis, and the season will not get any easier after that, as our conference and non-conference schedule will be tough,” Padgett said.
In addition to Memphis, several key non-conference match-ups for the Owls will include matches at Wright State University, the University of Dayton, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Florida Atlantic University.
North Carolina Central and presbyterian highlight the non-conference home schedule for the Owls. Atlantic Sun Conference rivals North Florida opens up the conference home slate when the Osrpeys come to town on Mar. 19.
