Stubblefield and Whitaker honored by Coastal Plain League

KENNESAW, Ga. - A pair of Kennesaw State baseball players have made a name for themselves so far this summer as Tyler Stubblefield and Josh Whitaker have both been named to the National roster for the Coastal Plain League 2009 All-Star Game, next Tuesday in Wilmington, N.C.

Both Stubblefield and Whitaker have had outstanding seasons so far for the Outer Banks Daredevils.  Stubblefield is hitting .337 on the season with a team-high 32 runs scored and a .465 on-base percentage.  Whitaker has been equally as impressive, driving in a team-leading 31 RBIs while also leading the Daredevils in stolen bases with 13 in 14 attempts.

The Coastal Plain League is one of the nation’s summer collegiate baseball leagues.  Now in its 13th season, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.  The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with wooden bats during the summer months. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
