Nagy takes on Chris Marin in Match Play
KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State’s Matt Nagy advanced to match play at the 84th Annual United States Amateur Public Links Championship at the Jimmie Austin University of Oklahoma Golf Club.

The KSU rising junior finished tied for 32nd place after he shot a 5-over par 147 to advance to match play where he will take on former CSU-Monterey star Chris Marin on Wednesday afternoon.

“This is another honor for Matt after qualifying for the U.S. Open,” said Kennesaw State head coach Blake Smart. “Advancing to match play is a good accomplishment for Matt and he certainly has the talent to advance further.”

Nagy advanced to the final 64 after he shot a 2-over par 73 in the first round and finished with a 3-over par 74 on Tuesday to conclude stroke play. Marin, who finished tied for 23rd place, shot a 4-over par 146 after shooting a 2-under par 69 in the first round and a 6-over par 77 in the second round.

Nagy, who is coming off a ninth place finish at the Dogwood Invitational, received an exemption into the event after qualifying for the United States Open last month. He will also receive an automatic exemption to the United States Amateur Championship at the Southern Hills Country Club on Aug. 24 in Tulsa, Okla.
