KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State Athletics Director Dr. Dave Waples and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced that T.J. Greggs has been named head men’s tennis coach.
“ I am very excited for the opportunity given to me by Dr. Dave Waples and the administration here,” said Greggs. “This situation is what is best for both programs and I am looking forward to focusing my energies on one program and continuing to build on the foundation that Coach Padgett and I built together over the past couple of years. It's also a great opportunity for the women's program to have a coach who is completely dedicated to their needs as well.”
Greggs, the longtime Director of Tennis Operations for the men’s and women’s programs, will take over the position of head coach effective immediately as Kennesaw State has made the men’s and women’s programs separate entities.
“It has become evident that the best way to proceed with our program is to separate the men’s and women’s team with two head coaches,” said Waples. “Everyone involved feels that this is a win-win situation for both coaches and both teams.”
Greggs will relinquish his duties as Director of Tennis Operations, but keep his position as Director of Athletic Housing in addition to being head coach of the second-year men’s team. Brandon Padgett will continue as women’s head coach and will assume the Director of Tennis Operations responsibilities for KSU's tennis programs.
“T.J. stepped in when we went Division I in 2005-06 and has done a great job of coordinating both programs,” added Waples. “We look forward to his continued success as the head coach of the men’s program.”
Greggs will make his head coaching debut on
Jan. 30 when his Owls travel to take on the Memphis Tigers.
