KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State head women’s soccer coach Rob King and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics have announced the signing of Olivia McKenzie to a National Letters of Intent to play for the Owls beginning in the fall of 2010.

A native of Harvest, Ala., McKenzie comes to Kennesaw State after a strong prep at Sparkman High School and a stellar club career with BUSA 92 Elite. A two-year starting center defender for Sparkman, McKenzie was selected to the Top Drawer Soccer Player to Watch List.

“We're very pleased to pick up Olivia this late in the process,” said King. “She's an excellent center back and brings strong club and ODP experience. Olivia is athletic, good in the air, reads the game well, distributes effectively and communicates clearly. She's a great addition to the squad and will likely contribute as a defender or holding mid.”

McKenzie, a five-year member and three-year starter for the Alabama ODP Team, was selected as a member of the 2008 ODP All-Star Team that defeated the U-17 Mexico National Team, 3-0.

While playing for coach Andrew Brower and BUSA 92 Elite, she was a member of seven club championship teams including three-time Alabama State championship teams and two-time Region III Premier League Central champions.

McKenzie is the third signee for Coach King this year, joining Katelyn Rikel and Sofia Blanco. The Owls open the 2010 season with an exhibition match against Jacksonville State in mid-August.
