Owls Softball Announces 2010 Fall Schedule

Georgia Tech, Georgia State among teams that will visit Kennesaw during fall months

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State Owls softball head coach Scott Whitlock announced his club’s schedule for the coming fall on Friday. The eight-game slate contests against five collegiate teams. All fall games will take place at Bailey Park on Kennesaw State’s campus.

“The fall is about learning. We’re going to use a variety of different players and assess what we have and what we need to work on,” Whitlock said. “I think the opponents we have scheduled will be good ones for us and we’ll make the most out of the time we have this fall.”

The Owls, who finished 27-26 in 2010 and made their first-ever appearance in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament in their first year of eligibility, will kick things off on Saturday, Sep. 25 when they host  Young Harris in a pair of scrimmages at 11:30 a.m. They then host local rival Georgia State the following Friday in a doubleheader at 5:00 p.m.

The following Saturday will begin with the Kennesaw State Owls Softball Alumni Game. Former Owls will take to the field at 11:00 a.m. at Bailey Park in an exhibition game, which will be followed by the current Owls taking on Darton College in a doubleheader at 2:00 p.m.

Georgia Tech will travel up to Kennesaw to close-out the fall season, taking to the diamond for two games against the Black and Gold on Sunday, Oct. 3, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
