KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State head women's basketball coach Colby Tilley is pleased to announce the hiring of Brooke Wilhoit as an assistant coach.  Wilhoit, a former standout at East Tennessee State and a recent member of the Wofford coaching staff, will begin working for the Lady Owls immediately.

"We feel very fortunate to get someone of Brooke's caliber,"  said Coach Tilley.  "She has knowledge beyond her years when it comes to basketball.  She comes to us very well recommended and very well-respected in the coaching profession."

"I couldn't be more excited about the position of this program and where it is heading," said Wilhoit.  "We have a lot of young student-athletes here and I'm happy to have the opportunity to work with them and help them seize all of the opportunities that are ahead of them.

"Working hard is all I know," Wilhoit said.  "I have a lot of passion and excitement for the game and I'm really hoping to instill that same passion in our players."

As a player at ETSU, Wilhoit earned Second Team Atlantic Sun Conference while finishing 12th in the nation in assists per game (5.9).  A native of Sevierville, Tenn., Wilhoit helped lead the Lady Bucs to the finals of the A-Sun Tournament during her senior season.  A WNIT berth would follow after the A-Sun Tournament, with Wilhoit scoring 18 points in her final collegiate game against Western Carolina.

Wilhoit finished her career at ETSU having played in 117 games, averaging 6.4 points, 3.4 rebound, 3.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per game.

After departing ETSU, Wilhoit arrived on the bench as an assistant coach at Wofford.  While with the Terriers, Wilhoit served as the recruiting coordinator.

Wilhoit joins Dee Dee Merriweather (Georgia State) as a former player in the Atlantic Sun Conference who is now on the women's basketball coaching staff.  "They were both very successful as players in the conference, and they both know the type of player it takes to win in the A-Sun," Coach Tilley said.  "They are good at recognizing talent."

"I'm excited to be back in the A-Sun," said Wilhoit.  "It's a great league because teams play such an athletic and fun style of play.

The Lady Owls will soon begin preparing for the 2010-11 season, which begins for the Lady Owls at the University of Miami Nov. 12.
