10/10/2011 3:02:00 PM

KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State University Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams has announced that Padraic McMeel has been appointed the Associate Athletics Director for Development.

“In order for us to move forward as planned, we needed someone with Padraic McMeel’s background in all the facets of external operations,” Williams commented.

McMeel comes to Kennesaw State from Missouri State University, where he served for the past three years as the Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs. Prior to his time at MSU, McMeel spent four years at the University of Central Florida, where he was the Associate Director of the Golden Knights Club and Director of Premium Seating.

“Padraic is a rising star in athletic administration and complements our existing senior management team well,” Williams added. “I feel very fortunate to have him join the Owls family.”

Instrumental to the growth in the development efforts of both institutions, McMeel headed departments that broke records for annual giving, while also implementing highly integrated systems for development, marketing, donations and other avenues of fundraising.

McMeel has 11 years of fundraising experience in intercollegiate athletics and also has a wealth of experience in the private sector, working as the Development Director for the Special Olympics and as the Associate Sales Manager for Walt Disney World Sports Attractions.

“I want to thank Vaughn Williams and the entire external athletic staff for the opportunity to be part of Owls family,” McMeel said. "This is an incredible time to be part of Kennesaw State University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. I look forward to providing outstanding support for the KSU students, faculty, staff and our more than 250 student-athletes, as well as growing our presence in the community.”

A 1994 graduate of Central Michigan University, McMeel graduated Summa Cum Laude with dual bachelor degrees in Sport Administration and Community Recreation and Park Administration. In 2005, he earned a master's in Physical Education-Athletic Administration from Central Michigan.
