MACON, Ga. – Kennesaw State men’s golfer Jimmy Beck was named the Atlantic Sun Men’s Golfer of the Week by the conference on Wednesday for his 10th place performance at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate.

Beck finished in the top-10 for the first time in his collegiate career as the freshman from Columbus, Ga., posted a 75-69-77=221, +5 in a 54-hole tournament that included 10 birdies. His second round 69 tied for the lowest individual 18-hole score of the tournament and marked the first time the Owls newcomer posted a sub-70 round.

"I am very happy for Jimmy to earn this award," head coach Jay Moseley said. "It's always a bonus when a freshman steps up and plays well, and I believe this will be a common trend for Jimmy. He had a great week and he will be able to build off this performance for the spring."

Jimmy has already begun to contribute to the teams success as he has competed in four tournaments this season, recording a 26th place finish and a 25th place finish to go with his 10th place at Kiawah Island. He currently maintains a 74.4 stroke average and leads the team in par-five scoring with an average of 4.88. He has tallied 42 birdies on the season, hitting .562 greens in regulation.

This is the first A-Sun Men’s Golfer of the Week award for Jimmy. For updates on the KSU men’s golf team, you can follow the team on Twitter @KSUOwlsMensGolf.
