MACON, Ga. – Two weeks after helping guide the Owls to the teams first Atlantic Sun Championship title, Kennesaw State Head Men’s Golf Coach Jay Moseley was announced as the Coach of the Year by the conference. The league’s 11 head coaches voted for the award, giving the two-year head coach his first honors.

Moseley helped led the Owls to a national ranking of 43 with a 2010-11 season that included five team titles, the Sam Hall Intercollegiate, Rees Jones Intercollegiate, The Match Play, Barefoot at the Beach Intercollegiate and the A-Sun Championship.

"It is truly a humbling honor to receive this award," Moseley said. "I am very proud because it is an award given out by fellow coaches. This is not an individual award and it is certainly not about me. This award is merely a reflection of all we have accomplished as a team and for that I am most proud."

The team set a new record for team scoring average posting a 287.7-team average over 11 events.  Their lowest total round came in the third round of the Seminole Intercollegiate as the team posted a 276. The lowest tournament total was the Sam Hall Intercollegiate when the team combined to shoot an 839 over 54-holes.

Catalysts of the team Jeff Karlsson and Matt Nagy each were honored as All A-Sun First Team members with Jonathan Klotz being named to the All A-Sun Freshmen Team.

The squad combined to win five A-Sun Golfer of the Week awards and currently awaits a phone call from the NCAA front office on Monday to find out where they will be playing NCAA Regionals for the first time in school history.

The tournament will begin May 19th, with there being six possible destinations. The Black and Gold will then have to finish amongst the top-five of their region to advance to the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship in Stillwater, Okla.
