JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Kennesaw State Track and Field team’s throwers wrapped up the Niswonger Collegiate Invitational on Saturday evening.
Junior Suzee Mills collected her first title of the 2012 campaign with a 17.09-meter toss in the weight throw. The 2011 First Team Atlantic Sun Honoree also recorded a 10th place performance in the shot put with a distance of 12.04m
Junior Shannon Hooper finished fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 15.77m, while Joyce Smith finished 20th. The freshman Smith also competed in the shot put finishing 23rd with a throw of 10.99m. Sprinter Victoria Jackson, who was the only runner to travel for the Owls finished eighth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.92.
Casey Reynolds recorded two top-15 finishes as the sophomore placed 11th in the shot put (14.11m) and 14th in the weight throw (15.24m). Teammate, junior Tyler Crow also competed as he had a 23rd place finish in the shot put (12.92m) and 33rd in the weight throw (10.93m).
The Owls will have one more warm up at the Samford Invite Crossplex on Feb. 10-11 in Birmingham, Ala., before returning to Johnson City for the A-Sun Indoor Championship on Feb. 17-18. For updates on the Black and Gold’s future events, you can follow the team on Twitter @KSUTracknFieldXC.
