Official Conference Release

MACON, Ga. – The honors keep on coming for redshirt-freshman Taylor Mills as she was voted by the conference office on Tuesday as one of six players to be named to the A-Sun Women’s Basketball Academic All-Conference Team.

Mills has posted a cumulative GPA of 3.51 while majoring in biology at KSU. She was just named the A-Sun Freshman of the Year on Monday as she helped lead the Kennesaw State women’s basketball team to the No. 5 seed in this year’s Conference Tournament.

The Knoxville, Tenn. native was the only Lady Owl to play and start in all 29 games this season. She led Kennesaw State in several statistical categories, including points (12.3), assists (4.3), steals (2.2), and minutes played (38.4). Mills also led all A-Sun freshmen in seven different categories this year in points, assists, free throw percentage (.782), steals, three-point field goals per game (2.6), assist/turnover ratio (1.2) and minutes. Her 38.4 minutes per game ranks 3rd in all of Division I, while she also ranks 34th in three-point field goals per game and 75th in assists in the NCAA.

The A-Sun introduced the new sport-by-sport Academic All-Conference teams this fall to recognize student-athletes who embody the conference’s mission of Building Winners for Life. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or better and participated in at least half of their team’s games.
