ATHENS, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s soccer team finished strong in its second 7v7 tournament of its spring season on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at the University of Georgia.
Kennesaw State was joined in the event by host school Georgia, Mercer, North Georgia, Georgia College and State and Armstrong Atlantic.
The Black and Gold played five games in the tournament finishing with a 2-2-1 record, but they outscored their opponents by a 13-11 margin. The Owls two wins came against North Georgia and Mercer, while they tied Armstrong Atlantic as well.
Sophomore
Kelsey Barr led the Kennesaw State attack as she finished with team highs in points and goals for the tournament. The Douglasville, Ga. native scored three goals and tallied four assists.

Rob King also had three new players make an impact in the tournament as freshman
Iyani Hughes and seniors
Brittany Vining and
Alyssa Mahan made their first appearances of the spring. Hughes led the team in assists on the afternoon with five, to go along with two goals. Vining recorded two goals, and Mahan registered two assists as well.
Junior
Melissa Hutto paced the Owls in goal as she made 13 saves, while redshirt-freshman
Emily Cox recorded 10 stops.
Kennesaw State plays its final 7v7 tournament of the spring next weekend at Clayton State on March 31.
