MACON, Ga. - The Kennesaw State men’s track and field team had two of its athletes honored by the conference office on Thursday afternoon as the 2012 A-Sun Men's Track & Field Outdoor Championship Awards were announced.

Freshman Andre Dorsey and redshirt-senior Kendall Parks were the two Owls who were honored as they helped guide the Black and Gold to a second-place finish in the A-Sun Outdoor Championships last weekend.

Dorsey was tabbed the Championship Most Outstanding Freshman Performer after also receiving the Most Valuable Performer honor for garnering 31 points at the 2012 A-Sun meet. Dorsey placed in the top-seven of five events, which included top-three performances in three events; javelin (1st; 56.07m), high jump (2nd; 2.01m) and triple jump (3rd; 14.35m).

Parks, the Most Outstanding Track Performer, also competed in five events for the KSU including two relay squads. He set the conference record in the 110-meter hurdles en route to claiming gold in the event, while also placing second in the 400m hurdles. Parks ran the opening leg of the 4x100m relay, which placed second, in the second-fastest time in conference history. The Duluth, Ga. native also earned fifth place in the 100m dash and helped the Owls to third in the 4x400m relay. Parks time in the short-distance hurdles ranks as the 29th-fastest in the nation.

The Black and Gold return to action today as they compete at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa from April 26-28. For updates on the Relays, follow the team on Twitter @KSUTrackFieldXC.
