KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men and women’s track and field program will travel nine individuals to compete in the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships- East Preliminary Rounds in Jacksonville, Fla.
The venue for the Preliminaries will be Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. A venue the Owls are very familiar with as both teams finished second earlier this season at the stadium in the 2012 A-Sun Championship.
Competing for the Black and Gold will be
Kendal Parks in the 110 meter hurdles. Parks is currently the No. 51 ranked individual in the world and No. 9 in the NCAA East Region after posting a 13.77 at the Drake Relays. Parks will also make up a piece of the 4x100 team that will compete. Joining Parks will be
Sadio Diallo,
Jemir Martinez and Reggie Lewis. The quartet turned in a season’s best time of 40.45 to enter the event ranked No.22.
The women will also carry a 4x100 team that includes
LaTia Daniels,
Kentrell White,
Cynthia Davis and
Victoria Jackson. The quartet posted a Kennesaw State record time of 45.33 at the Georgia Tech Invitational earlier this season to earn a No.22 seed in the event.
Christie Leverette, the A-Sun Scholar Athlete of the Year and high jump champion will participate in the high jump. Leverette set a Hodges Stadium record, A-Sun Championship record and KSU record with her jump of 1.76 meters at this years’ A-Sun Outdoor Championship.
“We are expecting a great performance out of these athletes,” head coach
Andy Eggerth said. “If they continue to run the way that got them here, they all have a good chance of moving on.”
