Parks Races His Way To National Championships

Senior places ninth in 110 meter hurdles

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior Kendal Parks stole the show on Saturday afternoon by qualifying for the NCAA Championships as the Kennesaw State men’s and women’s track and field programs had some solid performances at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships East Preliminary Rounds.

Parks earned the right to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa after finishing in ninth place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 13.75, setting a Kennesaw State record along the way.

Christie Leverette, who was the other individual competitor for the Black and Gold, placed 44th in the high jump with a leap of 1.67 meters.

The team of Parks, junior Sadio Diallo, junior Jemir Martinez and freshman Rasmus Rooks recorded an 18th place finish in the men’s 4X100 relay with a time of 40.34 to set a KSU program record. The Owls came just .27 seconds short of qualifying for nationals.

The women’s 4X100 relay team of freshmen LaTia Daniels, Kentrell White, Cynthia Davis and senior Victoria Jackson finished in 20th place with a time of 46.17.
