GCAA Release
NORMAN, Okla. – The Kennesaw State men's golf team received a President's Special Recognition for having a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.5 or better, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Wednesday afternoon.
The Owls were among 11 other Division I programs that received the honor, with the likes of Harvard, Yale and Brown being a few of the others recognized.
The squad posted a team GPA of 3.59 during the 2011-12 campaign. Led by senior Ben Greene, a finance major who finished his third year at Kennesaw State with a 4.0, the team helped make up a 3.11 cumulative GPA for all of KSU student-athletes.
"It is an honor for our program to receive this prestigious award and recognition," head coach Jay Moseley said. "Our student-athletes know that education and academics are a huge component of their college golf careers here at KSU. I am very proud of how well our team has performed in the classroom, as well as on the golf course. This award is a direct result of our team's hard work and discipline, along with their commitment to academics."
To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
