MACON, Ga. –
Kennesaw State men’s golfer Jimmy Beck III claimed Atlantic Sun Conference Co-Golfer of the Week honors, announced the conference on Wednesday, for his showing at the Shoal Creek Invitational.

Beck finished with a career best fifth place in a field that featured 11 teams including six of the top-45 ranked programs in the nation last season according to Golfstat.com final 2012 rankings, while nine of the 11 were ranked among the top 70. Beck finished the 54-hole event with a two-under-par, 214 total.

“It is an honor to receive this recognition,” Beck said. “I am fortunate to have been able to play consistent the past couple of weeks, and I look forward to the Rees Jones this weekend and hopefully getting our first team win of the season.”

A native of Columbus, Ga., and a finance major, this is Beck’s second career Atlantic Sun Golfer of the Week award.

Beck and the rest of the Owls will return to action on Oct. 1, when the team travels to Dafuskie Island, S.C., to defend their back-to-back Rees Jones Invitational titles. Last season the Black and Gold beat out host school South Carolina to repeat as Champions. Ben Greene earned runner-up honors at the event as he aided the Owls to a tournament low final round of 289, +1.
