NEW ORLEANS, La. – Sophomore
Andre Dorsey of the men’s track and field team earned honorable mention by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for his performance at the Niswonger Invitational.
Dorsey highlighted day one of the Niswonger as he dominated the triple jump with a first place jump of 15.68m, (51-05.50) to shatter the old school record of 49-7.00 and set a new Atlantic Sun Conference indoor record. The jump has Dorsey currently ranked no. 3 in the nation.
On day two of the meet, Dorsey earned a runner-up finish in the high jump with a leap of 2.03m. He also placed seventh in the long jump and recorded a personal best in the 60m dash and 60m hurdles.
“Andre is a tremendous talent with a lot of potential heading into the A-Sun Conference Championship,” Head Coach
Andy Eggerth said. “Despite winning the A-Sun Conference outdoor Most Valuable Performer last year, Andre didn’t have as good of a season as he was capable of having. He is still adjusting to a new training system, but he has been patient and stayed focused and is starting to show how skilled he is.”
Andre and the rest of the track and field team will travel to New York, N.Y., to compete in the New Balance Invitational on Feb. 1. Keep up with Owls track and field by following KSU on Twitter at
