Kennesaw, Ga. – Kennesaw State Director of Track and Field and the back-to-back Atlantic Sun Conference Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year,
Andy Eggerth, has announced the 2014 Indoor Track and Field schedule, it was announced on Tuesday, October 1.
Â
The men's and women's teams have lofty goals coming into the season after both having record-breaking 2013 campaigns.
Â
"One of our goals this year is to compete a little less, which allows us more time to train and get better," Eggerth said. "This keeps the athletes from competing too much, and with fewer opportunities, we should have a better sense of urgency and focus at each competition."Â
Â
The team will kick off the season at a familiar place and one of the best tracks in the country at the Blazer Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. from January 10-11.
Â
From there, the team will head to Winston-Salem, N.C. and the place of the 2014 Indoor Atlantic Sun Championships to compete in the Hilton Garden Invitational & CE from Jan. 31-Feb. 2.
Â
Next up is the Armory Collegiate Invite, where the team will compete against some of the best competition in the nation including over 100 universities across the country. The event will start on Friday, February 7, and will be held in New York City, N.Y.
Â
Then the Owls will travel back to Winston-Salem, N.C. to defend their title in the Atlantic Sun Championship from February 21-22.
Â
The NCAA Championships will be held three weeks later in Albuquerque, N.M. on March 14-15.
Â
"As our athletes continue to elevate their game, it's our responsibility to provide them with a challenging level of competition," Eggerth said. "We've been able to accomplish both of our scheduling goals with what should be both a very fun and successful season!"
