Kennesaw, Ga. –
Claire Bohrer of the Kennesaw State cross country team has been named to the Atlantic Sun All-Academic team, the league announced on Monday, November 11.
Â
"I feel really honored to be named a part of the All-Academic team," Bohrer said. "With classes, running, work, and an attempt at a social life, it can be really hectic and stressful. Although it can get crazy, I feel so thankful for all the opportunities I have, which is why I believe it is best to put 100% effort into each aspect of my life. Also, it definitely helps to have such a supportive group of friends and family alongside me every day to keep me motivated. Overall, I think it is so awesome to be recognized for the hard work I really do try to put into these aspects and I do plan to continue striving to succeed."
Â
Bohrer is a sophomore and holds a 4.0 GPA while majoring in English.
Â
This past fall, Bohrer was an integral part of the cross country team running a PR in a 5k at the 110% North Florida XC Invitational with a time of 20:27.0 and placing sixth at the JU Short Course Duals with a time of 14:58.0.
Â
"I'm so proud of Claire for earning All-Academic honors because she works so hard," cross country coach
Joel Pearson said. "Our goal at Kennesaw State is to not only win championships, but to also be successful in the classroom to set them up for success after college. Claire is an exemplary student athlete and we are lucky to have her on our team."
Â
Now, Bohrer and the rest of the cross country team are preparing for their indoor track and field season. The first meet starts on Friday, January 10 at the Blazer Invitational.
