A-SUN RELEASE

KENNESAW, Ga. –
Junior Amanda Henderson was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week after a dominate week in the circle for the Kennesaw State softball team.

It is her fourth career Pitcher of the Week award and third this season after being given the honor back-to-back in the first two weeks of the 2013 season.

“Amanda is having one of kind of years that pitchers dream off, at least for the early going,” said Head Coach Scott Whitlock. “This honor is just proof of it. She has pitched incredibly well over the first month and half of the season and we just hope it continues.”

Henderson went 3-0 in three appearances and two starts to as the Owls opened Atlantic Sun Conference play with a pair of wins over Mercer last Wednesday and a 2-1 record at Lipscomb over the weekend. She holds an undefeated record at 12-0 this season in the circle.

The Covington, Ga., native posted a pair of complete games, while striking out 26 batters in 18 innings of work, highlighted by a season-high 14 K’s in a 6-3 win against the Bison on Saturday.

She owned an ERA of 1.17 in her three appearances and now has an ERA of 1.14 for the season, to go with 113 strikeouts in 2013.

Henderson and the Owls next wrap up the regular season series with Mercer with a single game on Wednesday, March 20 in Macon, Ga. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. (ET).
