A-Sun Official Release
KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State senior
Gwen Jones (Statesboro, Ga. / Statesboro HS) has been named Atlantic Sun Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the third time in her career, the conference office announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Jones, competing at the Georgia Relays this past weekend (Mar. 15-16) in the shot put, set a new school record on her way to winning the event. The throw of 13.93m (45-08.50) marks a personal best for her in the outdoor season, and ranks first in the A-Sun this season.
“It’s great to see Gwen throwing so well this early in the season,” Head Coach
Andy Eggerth said. “She has big goals for her final outdoor season, and she’s well on her way to achieving them.”
Jones and the rest of the KSU men’s and women’s track and field teams continue the 2013 season when they travel to Georgia Teach Mar. 29-30 to compete in the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
