A-Sun Release

KENNESAW, Ga. – Freshman Senneca Ward (Peachtree City, Ga. / McIntosh HS) continues to make history as a member of the first-year Kennesaw State lacrosse program.

Following a six-goal performance against Coastal Carolina in the Owls’ first-ever home game on Saturday, Ward was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday.

Ward accounted for half of Kennesaw State’s season-high 12 goals during a 21-12 loss to the Chanticleers at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. The six goals also are a single-game high by an A-Sun Conference player this season.

"This is well deserved after Senneca played two outstanding games," head coach Kristina Llanes said. "She is a consistent midfielder and she will be a strong leader for us going into the second half of the season."

Ward leads the Owls with 10 goals this season.

Kennesaw State has a nearly two-week break before returning to action on Mar. on March 15 when it travels to Rock Hill, S.C., to take on Winthrop beginning at 6 p.m. (ET).

Kennesaw State is celebrating 30 years of intercollegiate athletics during the 2012-13 academic year.
