OFFICAL A-SUN RELEASE

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State senior Michelle Quimby (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa HS) has been named Atlantic Sun Conference Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon (Apr. 10).

Quimby, a two-time honoree in the outdoor season, set a new KSU school record in the pole vault at the recent Florida Relays (Apr. 5-6). Her mark of 3.75m (12-03.00) also moved her into the top spot in the A-Sun rankings.

“Michelle has had quite the career,” Head Coach Andy Eggerth said. “After tying her own school record multiple times last year, and this year, she has finally been able to break through.”

Her record-breaking height is just short of the qualifying mark needed for the NCAA Championships, but with several meets left in the season, there is confidence in the standout senior.

“She’s ready to go even higher,” Eggerth added. “As she times things up a little better over the next few weeks, we are looking forward to her setting the record even higher and qualifying for the first round of the NCAA Championships.”

Quimby, and the rest of the KSU men’s and women’s track and field teams, continue the 2013 season when they travel to Knoxville, Tenn. to compete in the Sea Ray Relays Friday and Saturday, Apr. 12-13.
