KSU Set to Take on FGCU in First Round of A-Sun Tourney

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State baseball team is set to take on Florida Gulf Coast in the first round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Postseason Tournament held in DeLand, Fla. this May 22-26 on the campus of Stetson University.

The Owls enter the 5 p.m. ET contest as the No. 7 seed after finishing up the year at 26-28 overall and 13-14 in the A-Sun standings. Florida Gulf Coast, the No. 2 seed, enters at 37-18 on the year and 19-8 in the conference, just one game behind the overall No. 1 seeded Mercer Bears.

During the regular season series held in Kennesaw, Ga.,  the Eagles took two out of the three games over the weekend series, the Owls winning the opening game by a 6-1 score and FGCU taking the next two, 5-3 and 4-1 respectively.

The winner of the game will take on the winner of the No. 3 North Florida (38-17, 18-9 A-Sun) and No. 6 Lipscomb (24-32, 13-14 A-Sun) game to be played at 8:15 p.m. ET on Wednesday with the two losers meeting in the loser’s bracket at 1:15 p.m. ET during the double-elimination tournament.

The winner of the four teams will take on the winner from the other side of the bracket that consists of the regular season champ and overall No. 1 Mercer (42-14, 20-7 A-Sun), No. 4 East Tennessee State (32-22, 17-10 A-Sun), No. 5 Stetson (26-29, 15-12 A-Sun and No. 8 USC Upstate (26-28, 9-18 A-Sun).

The A-Sun Championship game will take place on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN3. All other games will be available on ASunTV.

Day Passes for the A-Sun Championship will be available for $15 for general admission and $20 for reserved seating. Tournament Passes are available for purchase until May 21 for $45 for general admission and $55 for reserved seating by calling (386) 822-8110. Tournament Passes will not be sold during the tournament.
