KENNESAW, Ga. – Martynas Sedys (Marijampole, Lithuania) won the hammer throw at the Lithuanian National Championships with a throw of 62.52 meters.

The event was very competitive, but with experience and a tough training schedule, Sedys prevailed in the end.

"This is my third time competing at the national championship, and I did not expect to win this title," Sedys said. "My opponent had a better mark than me coming into the meet. The lead changed at least 3 times between my competition and me. However, I was consistent with my throws today and was able to capture the Gold medal."

Sedys just finished a very successful freshman campaign at Kennesaw State where he won the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in the hammer. Going into his sophomore year, Sedys has some big goals that he would like to achieve.

"I hope to carry this success into the 2014 season," Sedys said. "My goal is to score at the NCAA championship, and become an All-American".

Sedys also finished ninth in the discus at the event.
