KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's
Terrell Singleton and
Andre Dorsey captured the Atlantic Sun Men's Indoor Track and Field weekly awards, announced Wednesday, January 15 by the league office.
Dorsey earned three third-place finishes at the UAB Blazer Invitational in the long jump, high jump and triple jump. His distance of 7.45 meters in the long jump set a Kennesaw State record. His performances in all three events rank first in the A-Sun. This is his third career Performer of the Week award.
"Andre has persevered through a lot of nagging injuries this fall," Director of Track and Field
Andy Eggerth said. "These chronic issues can create a lot of frustration and shake the confidence of even the best athletes. It's encouraging to see Andre open up with his best ever opening marks in the triple jump and high jump, while topping it off with a school record in the long jump. We still have to do some training management, but this has helped to revitalize Andre."
Singleton posted a seventh-place performance in the 60-meter hurdles at the UAB Blazer Invitational, while adding two top-five A-Sun performances in the 60m dash and 200m dash in his first collegiate event as a freshman.
"It's very exciting for Terrell, as a freshman, not only to make the finals in a meet where 40 teams were competing, but then to be voted the A-Sun track performer of the week and really shows the potential that he has," Eggerth said. "There is still plenty of work to be done, but this award is a great way to build confidence and faith."
The track and field teams will train the next couple of weeks before they head to Winston-Salem, N.C. to compete at the Hilton Garden Invitational on Friday, January 31.
