A-Sun Conference Release

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State freshman Fredrik Nilehn, who turned in a record-breaking performance at the Pinetree Intercollegiate that concluded Tuesday (Oct. 21), has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday (Oct. 22).
 
Nilehn led Kennesaw State to a 30-shot victory at the Pinetree Intercollegiate and, in the process, etched his name into the school record books. The Gothenburg, Sweden native claimed individual medalist honors with a 14-under par 202 total that set the KSU low 54-hole record on a par-72 course.
 
Nilehn opened the tournament with a school-record 8-under par 64 and followed that performance with rounds of 70 and 68 to record a four-shot victory over senior teammate Jimmy Beck. During his opening round, Nilehn recorded eight birdies and an eagle.

"Fredrik's performance this week was nothing short of spectacular," Kennesaw State head coach Jay Moseley said. "It was one of the most impressive tournaments we have ever had by a KSU player and I am excited to watch him continue to develop and improve."
 
The first-place showing marked the third straight top 10 showing for Nilehn and lowered his stroke average to 71.86 in 14 rounds. The Golfer of the Week honor marks the first for Nilehn.
 
The Pinetree Intercollegiate concluded the fall schedule for the Owls who are now off until Feb. 23 when they open their spring slate at the Jones Invitational hosted by Pepperdine at the Valencia Country Club in Valencia, Calif.
