OFFICIAL RELEASE

KENNESAW, Ga. – After hauling in a plethora of offseason awards, Kennesaw State starting catcher Max Pentecost translated the success into the season, earning the Atlantic Sun Conference's first Player of the Week award for the 2014 season.

Pentecost was good for eight hits during the three-game series win for the Owls over Middle Tennessee State, belting three doubles and catching a pair of runners stealing from behind the plate as well.

"I'm happy for Max," Kennesaw State head coach Mike Sansing said. "He had a great weekend and it's indicative of how well he's performed for us all spring and fall. We're excited for him and what this season has in store."

The Winder, Ga. native also drove in a pair of runs with 11 total bases and two walks over the three-game span. Pentecost now ranks first in the A-Sun in runs scored with his five following the opening weekend and is second in doubles and total hits.

The award is the first A-Sun Player of the Week accolade for the junior.

Pentecost, along with the rest of the 2-1 Owls, will be back on the field this Tuesday, Feb. 18 as KSU heads to Georgia for a 5 p.m. ET contest.
