OFFICIAL RELEASEKENNESAW, Ga. – For the second time this season Kennesaw State baseball catcher
Max Pentecost has earned Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week honors, the league office announced on Monday morning.
Pentecost helped lead the Owls to a 4-0 week with a win over Jacksonville State and a three-game conference series sweep over Stetson.
"Max put together a great week both offensively and defensively for us," said head coach
Mike Sansing. "It's an excellent honor for him and he's just been so consistent for us all season. I was glad to see him have thee week he had and he was pivotal in our success, hitting his two home runs in key moments that really got us going."
The Winder, Ga., native adds to his growing trophy case after going 10-for-17 at the plate with three doubles, two home runs and six RBI.
During a Friday night win over the Hatters, Pentecost went 4-for-4 with four RBIs including a homer, backing that up with a 3-for-4 effort on Sunday with four runs scored and two driven in with an opposite field shot.
Pentecost currently leads the Owls in nearly every offensive category and is in the top 10 in the nation in total hits with 63. The junior also holds the longest active hitting streak in the A-Sun and one of the longest in the nation at 20 games.
The Owls will be back on the road for four five straight starting this Tuesday, April 15, with at 6 p.m. ET game at cross-town rival Georgia State before a weekend series at USC Upstate.
