Max Pentecost as the catcher was officially named a First Team All-American by Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association, it was revealed on Tuesday.

The Winder, Georgia, native, who became the highest MLB draft pick in KSU history when the Toronto Blue Jays selected him 11
th overall, led the nation in total hits in 2014 with his 113.

Pentecost helped lead the Owls to a historic season in which the team won its first ever Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, its first Regional Title and made its first Super Regional appearance.

The catcher also ranked second in the nation in batting average at .422 and put together the nation's longest hit-streak at any point this season at 36 straight.

Pentecost's 113 hits set a new single-season mark in the A-Sun as well as in the KSU record books while also pacing the Owls in homers with his nine, RBIs with 61 and in stolen bases with 17.

Defensively, the catcher caught 22 runners attempting to steal while compiling a fielding percentage of .976.

The accolade joins a growing list for Pentecost, who was named a Louisville Slugger First Team All-American as well. Pentecost also became the first A-Sun Player of the Year in KSU history while also being named to the Tallahassee Regional All-Tournament Team.

Pentecost has been named a finalist for both the Johnny Bench Award, recognizing the nation's top collegiate catcher, and for the Gregg Olson Ward, naming the country's breakout player.
