BSB: Pentecost Named First Team All-American by Perfect Game and Rawlings

Accolade Recognizes Top Collegiate Players in the Country

- Kennesaw State junior stand-out Max Pentecost added another pair of awards to his collection on Wednesday afternoon as the catcher was named First Team All-American by Perfect Game as well as bieng  named a member of the Rawlings/ABCA First-Team All-America squad. .

Pentecost, who was selected 11th overall by the Toronto Blue Jays in this year's Major League Baseball draft, helped lead the Owls to thier first ever Atlantic Sun Conference championship, an NCAA Regional title, and a berth in the NCAA Super regional at Louisville.

Pentecost led the nation with 113 hits on the year and was second in the country with a .423 batting average. He also belted nine home runs to go along with 61 RBIs and the nation's longest hit streak at any point this season of 36 games. On the bases, the Winder, Georgia, native swiped 17 bases during his junior campaign.

His 113 hits were the most in the Atlantic Sun in a single season and most in Kennesaw State history.  Pentecost finished the season ranked in top-15 in six offensive categories in the nation and was able to catch 22 runners attempting to steal from his catcher's position, the second most in the Atlantic Sun.

The accolade joins a growing list for Pentecost, who was named a Louisville Slugger First Team All-American as well. Pentecost also became the first A-Sun Player of the Year in KSU history while earning a spot on the Tallahassee Regional All-Tournament Team.

Pentecost has been named a finalist for both the Johnny Bench Award, recognizing the nation's top collegiate catcher, and for the Gregg Olson Ward, naming the country's breakout player.
