ITA ReleaseKENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic honors and seven members of the squad were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes, the organization announced on Thursday (July 10).

Juniors
Alex Pena and
Louis Theodor, sophomores
Jorge Wilton and
Maksim Yorsh, and freshmen
Jake Bouchillon,
David Durham and
Simon Pritchard were honored for their work in the classroom during the 2013-14 academic year.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CA JUCO eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2013 and spring 2014).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).

"I am extremely proud of the team for earning ITA All-Academic honors," head coach
Eduardo Rincon said. "I know how hard they have worked in order to achieve a level of success academically and have seen how much this means to them based on the time and hard work they have put into their academics while at home and on the road.

"It is an honor and privilege to be able to help guide these student-athletes day-in and day-out during their college years," Rincon added.
