GCAA ReleaseNORMAN, Okla. – The honor roll for Kennesaw State rising senior
Jimmy Beck continued on Wednesday (July 23) when he was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Beck was one of 207 Division I men's golfers honored for their accomplishments in the classroom, on the course and in the community.
Beck was recognized along with senior
Jonathan Klotz who appeared in five events and recorded a 75.40 stroke average before an injury cut short his spring season. This year marks for third consecutive year that two Owls have been honored in the same season.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I and be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Beck, who recorded a 72.54 stroke average while leading Kennesaw State to the NCAA Championships as a junior, has received a long list of honors in 2014 that have included Atlantic Sun Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, first team all-conference and Division I Ping All-Southeast Region.
The Columbus, Ga. native earlier this week qualified for the 2014 U.S. Amateur Championship that will be played at Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Ga.
Beck and the Kennesaw State men's golf team open their 2014-15 season on Sept. 5 at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in Dalton, Ga.
