KENNESAW, Ga. – Senior
Jimmy Beck (Columbus, Ga. / Columbus HS) has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday (Sept. 17).
Beck posted a 6-under par 210 (68-72-70) to tie for fourth at the 18-team Tar Heel Intercollegiate that concluded Sunday at the par-72, 7,242-yard UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Owls' senior recorded his second straight top-five finish in as many events.
In two tournaments this season, Beck is a combined 11-under par through six rounds to post a 70.16 stroke average. He has shot par or better in five of six rounds, posting four rounds under par and two rounds in the 60s.
The Golfer of the Week honor marks the fifth of Beck's career.
The Owls will be back on the course this weekend as they travel to Dafuskie Island, S.C. to compete in the 11-team Rees Jones Invitational. Kennesaw State opens play on Sunday (Sept. 21) as the defending champion and has captured the event in three of the last four years. The tournament will be held at Haig Point Golf Club.
