OFFICIAL RELEASE
KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State men's cross country runner
Daniel Garcia earned his second career Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week honor for his performance at the UF Mountain Dew Invitational, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon.
"This is very exciting news for Daniel," Cross Country Coach
Joel Pearson said. "He executed the race plan very well at the Mountain Dew Invitational. He has been doing excellent training and we expect him to break the 24-minute barrier as well as qualify as an individual for the NCAA Cross Country Championships this fall."
A freshman business major from Barcelona, Spain, Garcia grabbed a second place finish with an 8k time of 24:25.70 in the 12-team, 88-individual field, helping the Owls finish fifth as a team.
Garcia was also named runner of the week on September 3 for his performance in the Clemson Invitational.
Garcia and the Owls will run in their third meet of the season on Saturday, November 4th, at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic in Louisville, Ky.
