Men's All-Academic Team | Women's All-Academic Team
KENNESAW, Ga. – Five athletes on the Kennesaw State men and women's track and field teams have been named to the Atlantic Sun Indoor Academic All-Conference team.
Rasmus Rooks,
Matthew Morris , and
Joseph Yates were named to the team on the men's side and Laura Maria-Oja and Alicia Whittle were named to the to the team on the women's side.
"I'm proud of these athletes for representing themselves, their families, our teams and university so well," Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Andy Eggerth said . "We talk frequently about being STUDENT-athletes, so I'm pleased to see these individuals performing so well academically and athletically." Rooks has a 3.67 GPA majoring in Exercise Science. At the A-Sun ChampionshipsHe finished third in the 60m dash in 7.00 and second in the long jump with a jump of 6.88m (22'7.00).
Morris holds a 3.37 GPA in Business Information Security Assurance. He won the pole vault with a vault of 4.61m (15'1.50") at the A-Sun Championships. The junior did not place worse than sixth in four pole vault events he competed in during the indoor season.
Yates has maintained a 3.84 GPA while majoring in Accounting. He finished fifth in the heptathlon at the A-Sun Championships.
Maria-Oja, who holds a 3.76 GPA while majoring in Biochemistry, placed sixth in the 60m dash at the A-Sun championships.
Whittle holds a 3.75 GPA while majoring in Communications. She ran in four events at the A-Sun Championships. Her best individual performance came in the 200m in which she finished third in 24.89. She would collect a gold medal running the third leg for the 4x400 team that won by nearly three seconds.
