MACON, Ga. – A pair of Kennesaw State baseball players was tabbed with Atlantic Sun weekly awards, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Corey Greeson won Player of the Week for the Owls, while teammate Jordan Hillyer earned Co-Pitcher of the Week honors.KSU's Jordan Hillyer started off the weekend for the Owls with an Atlantic Sun career-high 13 strikeouts over eight innings of work vs. the Tribe. Hillyer, who leads the A-Sun in strikeouts, evened his record at 2-2 as the junior allowed only four hits in the 3-2 victory.
"I thought he pitched extremely well against a very good offensive team. To register 13 strikeouts against a team that has that kind of offensive firepower was very impressive," head coach Mike Sansing said."
Greeson collected the A-Sun Player of the Week recognition after guiding the Owls to a three-game sweep of William & Mary with three multi-hit outings. The sophomore third basemen totaled four doubles on the week with six runs scored as the Owls played in three one-run games. Greeson batted .700 (7-for-10) with three doubles and three RBI over the weekend against the Tribe, totaling 1.000 slugging percentage and a .769 on-base percentage.
"I was very impressed with Greeson batting leadoff over the weekend. He was able to get on base a lot and set the table for our offense," Sansing said. "It was nice to see him have a great offensive weekend and produce at the top of the lineup with a .769 on-base percentage."
