KENNESAW, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun announced on Wednesday (Mar. 4) that Freshman
Alejandro Valencia (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Alejandria) has been named conference player of the week.

Valencia gave a great effort in the match against Tennessee Tech on Sunday (Mar.1), clinching the match point in both doubles and singles action.

Alejandro teamed up with
Manuel Castellanos at No. 2 doubles to collect an 8-4 victory over Eduardo Mena and Alvaro Cintas. Valencia remained victorious during singles play, recording a (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) win over Alberto Esteban and clinching the match at No. 2 singles.

"It is great for Alejandro to be recognized," said head coach
Eduardo Rincon. " He has worked very hard and put in a lot of hours on the court. This is a rewarding experience and I hope that we will be able to get more honors as the season progresses."

Alejandro is the third Owl to earn an A-Sun player of the week award, joining
Louis Theodor (2013) and
David Durham (2014).

The men's tennis team will be back in action at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday (Mar. 4) to take on Jacksonville State at Kennworth Park in Acworth, Ga.
