KENNESAW, Ga. - The men's track and field team has received a pair of postseason awards after winning their fourth straight Atlantic Sun Indoor Championship over the weekend the conference announced Tuesday. Director of Track and Field
Andy Eggerth has been named A-Sun Coach of the Year for the fourth consecutive year and
Andre Dorsey was named the most outstanding field athlete for the third consecutive year.
"I saw a great tweet a few weeks ago- "coaches don't win championships, athletes do", and the same thing really goes for this award." Eggerth said. Coach of the Year isn't really my award, but goes to my athletes who've worked their tail off constantly and brought home the championship in convincing fashion. It also goes to my staff and administration, without whom I would be nothing."
Dorsey, the senior All-American, won the high jump, long jump and triple jump at the indoor championships. Dorsey's best performance came in the long jump which he jumped 7.18m (23'6.75) nearly a foot longer then the second place competitor. Dorsey collected 30 of the team's 218 points during the championships.
Dorsey and teammate
Bilal Abdullah will compete in the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships (Mar.13-14) in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
