Jimmy Beck and
Austin Vick were unanimous selections to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic team with Beck being tabbed Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row, the conference announced on Friday (May 1).
Beck becomes the first two-time winner of the scholar-athlete of the year award and the designation marks the third straight for a Kennesaw State individual.
To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete is required to have a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, have participated in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's contests and have one year of residence at the institution.
Beck, who on Thursday (April 30), was a unanimous first team all-conference selection, is completing one of the finest careers in program history. He ranks second on the Owls with a 71.27 scoring average, has seven Top 20 finishes, six top 10s, and is coming off his best showing of the season after tying for second at the A-Sun Conference Championships.
The Columbus, Ga. native currently has a 3.80 grade-point average while majoring in finance, and was a 2014 Golf Coaches Association of America All-American (GCAA) Scholar in 2014.
Vick, who also earned all-conference honors on Thursday, is putting together a sold final season as evident by his 72.31 scoring average, five top 20 finishes, including three Top 10s. Vick's highest finish was third-place showing at the Pinetree Intercollegiate. The Owls' senior has recorded eight rounds in the 60s and 10 rounds under par.
In the classroom, Vick has maintained 3.60 grade-point average while majoring in business finance. The Evans, Ga. resident also earned all-academic honors in 2014.
Kennesaw State will now turn its attention to Monday, May 4 when the announcement of the 81-team field to the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships will be made live on the Golf Channel at 10 a.m. (ET). The Owls will hold a watch party at Pinetree Country Club.
