The Atlantic Sun announced on Wednesday (Apr. 8) that sophomore
Simon Pritchard has been named conference player of the week.
Â
Pritchard had a great week, finishing 2-0 at No. 1 singles and also winning a doubles match to contribute to two-straight wins for the Owls.
Â
Simon teamed up with
Jorge Wilton at No. 2 doubles to defeat John Tougher and Thais Minet of Lipscomb 8-4. Pritchard also took care of Rob Mitchell 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles in the same match and he claimed a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Mate Virag in the win over Northern Kentucky.
"Simon has shown incredible courage and determination in his time at Kennesaw State," said head coach Eduard Rincon.  He works hard everyday of the week and his attention to detail is incredible. He puts himself in a position to win every time he steps onto the court and that is all I can ask of him. Simon is a natural leader and a great competitor; he performed well last week but he has been outstanding over the entire season".
Simon is the fourth Owl to earn an A-Sun player of the week award, joining
Louis Theodor (2013),
David Durham (2014), and
Alejandro Valencia (2015).
Â
The men's tennis team will be back in action at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday (Mar. 11) to take on USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C.
